Angry gold

im seriously debating quitting GW about this. there is absolutely no way to make gold in GW anymore. lootscaling has blown up all my farms that rarely made anything and cmon, how in the world am i gonna get a rare asian mini pet or anything.

its rediculous on how hard it is to make 15k anymore.

if you guys got your farm places that make you some decent income id be happy to hear about it, i got all lvl 20 chars etc. but cmon, how many of you are jealous of those D****e-bags who have 6 mini pandas a mini kanaxai 10 mini onis 50 kajillion ecto and still complain they aren't rich.

how do they even make that much money O.O. maybe half those people ebay their gold sure, but id never spend real money for in game money.

anyone else feel like this?

id love to hear opinions

Its not hard to make money , it just takes some time. Sure , i dont make millions , but enough to buy the things i need.
Go to the farm section and read the postings about , for an example , the Destroyer Cores. They sell for about 500 gold each at this moment.
Also the 55 hp run in The First City , takes about 20 minutes to complete and you'll earn at least 3 K .
So it is not hard to make 15 K , i can do that in one hour or so ....

no. i have over 500k of guildwars play money. this was saved up from about 3 weeks of questing and doing hardmode missions. i use collector armor and collector weapons. none of my heroes have any runes or insignias. additionally, they're all equipped with bonus items. and i don't care about mini-pets or rare-skinned weapons. really, what's so great about mini-pets? they just take up valuable storage space.

Erm... I have saved up 650k in a week I spent home sick, while doing other stuff as well. Was gone in less than 3 hours. 3 weeks later, I'm back at 500k; less farming of course, more time taken to do homework, study, and when I'm on GW I'm mapping on my main, or helping around with other characters. Give me another week and I'll buy FoW - then I'll be back down at 0, and will start farming again... over and over again... I like farming x].

I made over 60k in a day on a new character, just playing through normally. Am I lucky or something? Didn't really seem "rediculous". >.>

It's easy to make money in guild wars, it *always* has been, but people's problem is: they don't know how.

If you know how to make money, then you will, and quickly at that.

ANET wants people to make money by trading, as in power trading or specifically farming for certain loot that sells well, instead of farming for merchant trash. Quality over quantity. After saying that there are still some areas that deliver decent merchant trash that you can farm fairly fast, most are listed in the farming section. Personally I have found that working on Legendary Guardian this past week has made me lots of money, on a good mission I have gotten 5k and average about 2.5k. Times that by 58 missions in hard mode and you get 145k. I'm sure Vanquishing would net you even more money as there are 136 areas to vanquish and about 32,000 enemies.

Forgive me but this seems a little along the lines of I used to make millions now I only make thousands so im leaving the game.

I wasnt around when MMs had unlimited minions or green weapons fetched huge amounts of platinum and ectos or Farming was literally a gold mine.

Sadly the people who did all this swanked around so much arenanet rebalanced the skills.
Not to make such achievements impossible but to make it take longer, as with any toy when we get it its loads of fun but we scream like mad if its taken away.

Guess what that's life, now you have a new challenge to find more money.

That said what the heck is all the money for.
15k armour well thats still achievable
all the skills you could possibly need as well as the best weapons also achievable.
What could anyone use huge amounts of money for in the game ?

Its drink isnt it you all have drink and sweet habbits to feed

Go or stay your choice my friend and you know what will make you happiest

Let me tell you a little story...

I started playing Guild Wars a month or so after Factions came out. When I got to the Kurzick territories, I really wanted the Kurzick armor. But it was very expensive to me at the time (although as I mention below, amber wasn't cheap) but I scraped by. I managed it and had a nice looking armor suit!

Then I got into Vasburg and realized Guild Wars had something called "prestige" armor. I couldn't believe how much it cost!

And so...

I never thought I'd be able to get the cash together for elite Kurzick armor, back in the day when amber cost 2.6k-3k instead of 200-300g. But I managed it. And it was a great achievement.

Once again...

I never thought I'd be able to get obsidian armor. Such a large requirement! A dangerous area to go through, just to get the armor crafted. An insane expense. I couldn't even imagine having that much cash. But my gaming style evolved. I learned. And I bought a full set.

I started earning the cash for my obsidian after they scaled the loot.

A few months back, ArenaNet added new monster spawns to one of my main farming spots. I was rather pissed, but I found new ones. You can too!

So what I'm trying to say is...you've set a certain limitation on yourself. Break it. Then break the new one. If you really want something, whether it's in a video game or in life, you've got to try. You've got to work for it.

Good luck! Don't give up just yet. There are so many tools out there, many of them in these forums, that can help boost you up.

Vamp sword hilt- 3k
Decent crafter sword with a 15^50 inscription - 5k
Defense pommel - 2k
TOTAL: 10k

The best sword in the game for 10k, about 1-2 hours of decent farming. Your 'I don't have any money' excuse is bulls**t because you don't need 15k armor and gold fellblades and stuff.

The minis he mentioned won't be achieved by anyone not already super rich or that doesn't have an ebay gold agent on the friends list. Very small amount of those minis in the game that get rarer each time someone bites the bullet and dedicates one. The only way they are EVER getting cheaper is if Anet decides to screw the ebay kiddies and release 10000 more into the system. Hell, they have screwed over us weapon collectors so many times why not hit them for a change.

So telling someone in this economy to work harder and they can get one of those minis is ... not realistic. He hasn't set a limitation on himself .. 1500ecto and 50 plus armbraces in this market is not happening anytime soon.

Nope, not jealous .. I fall into the rich category. Just honest on current state of the economy and that the Ebayers have actually really started to have an impact on the true rare items.

Kane, give up? No. Run a solo war/rit in uw. Figure on an average of one ecto per run a run being 20 minutes ... you will have enough for cheapest rare mini in 667 hours. Assuming of course they don't go up in price

Pretty much the same I was writing x].

Back when I started this game, 2-3 months after release, meh... money. Didn't need it much. I was happy with what I made. I'd use my own drops as equipment, would save up for max armor, and I'd sell my unwanted materials to people. I'd use the money to buy skills. I had NO idea of what was 15k armor. Sure I saw some warriors with nice armor - the one with the thingy on their shoulder... THEN I learned it was 15k Gladiator's. Oh well. I wasn't playing warrior much, so I really didn't bother getting into the whole farming thing.

When I got done with Prophecies on my main char, a necro, I needed money to fund other characters. My idea of "farming" was running around the desert killing the monsters to get money. It took a long time, but with everything else I did... I made my first 50k doing this. Wow. I was REALLY happy. 50k was a HUGE amount to me.

I took a break from GW for a while, and when I came back, I started to join different guilds, in which I'd improve; because, for once, I had people teaching me "real" farming runs. I saved money for a 55 set for my necro while playing MM for b/p groups in SF, and I got around 100k within about 2 weeks once I had set up. Wow. 100k. That was another huge amount for me. And it was faster than my desert farming. I did that for a while, enough to save up for my very first set of 15k armor - 15k Luxon for necromancer. Left with little cash, I farmed again.

And that's when I realized I had the power to make cash, to spend it AND to get it all over again. FoW sets were still "yeah right, I'm never gonna be able to get that". Yet I farmed UW as a SS with a 55, started doing Tombs, and made a few ectos. Didn't know why I was keeping then, I never thought I could afford FoW.

When they nerfed melee monsters behavior, I had to find another farming run since 55/SS wasn't that good anymore. Moved to dragon mosses since they were ranged. Once again, made some decent cash out of it. You farm 100k... you can farm 200k. You can farm 200k... hell, you can farm 300k! "

"Hey, 300k's pretty good. I have ectos in storage... some shards too... DAMN! I can get FoW armor if I continue like this!"

And I got one set within 3 weeks.

My second one took longer, since more nerfs had been introduced, and I was also busy dragging more chars around Factions and Nightfall (I've always taken my time doing stuff). Took around 4 months, but I was farming UW with my W/Rt and doing more ToPK runs; on those 4 months, I was 2 in Japan with little net access. When I came back, oh boy... that's when I realized the poor state of the economy. Bought my 2nd set, and thought I'd probably never see 450k again.

Oh boy, I was wrong. Since I had taken a lot of characters through the games, I now had a solid basis to farm. Did Halcyon Job farming, then started farming DoA as a famine ranger. Now I 600 or play smite. Made 650k in a week. Got FoW (my third set. WOW. A year back, I'd have NEVER thought it would have been possible). Got back on my cash doing the same. Now aiming for what I guess is gonna be my last set of FoW (but I know myself enough to say it's probably NOT gonna be my last, lol...).

So, TBH, I'm VERY happy with what I can make out of the game, and that's pretty much been a constant thing. I make money to suit my "needs" (don't need FoW armor, but eh, I have the power to get them, so why not?). So I look back on it and compare my desert runs, where I was happy if I could make 1k in an hour... to now 100k+ in a single day.

I. Cannot. Complain.

Hah, I go through that phase everytime I hit a milestone. "So now that I have such and such... what can I do to make this interesting again? 'Cause I'm bored now that I have reached my goals, I feel like I don't have anything else to do."

Then I just remind myself that after 2 years I'm still not UAX, that I've got 33 fame on my account, that my mesmer deserves some 15k armor, my warrior has been neglected to no end as well, that my paragon needs better skills, my rit needs EotN... 5k+ hours and I still have some stuff to do.

In some way, I'm glad I'm a slow player.

= WIN.

Hard Mode missions and dungeons (including drops) rake in a lot of cash for me.

The problem with most GW players today is they want everything NOW.

Basically, it's just another rant thread.
